Eriksen, Sancho And Shaw To Start, Ronaldo On The Bench: United’s Predicted XI To Play Newcastle

Manchester United laboured to a 1-0 win against Omonia Nicosia on Thursday night, and it’s fair to say that most of the fringe players that were given starts by manager Erik ten Hag did not do themselves any favours.

They face Newcastle this weekend, who have only lost once so far this season, and it will be a tricky test for the home side at Old Trafford.

David De Gea will start in goal, while Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw are expected to line up as the two fullbacks. Raphael Varane is still struggling with an ankle problem so Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez may start in the middle of defence once again.

In midfield, Scott McTominay’s suspension means Christian Eriksen will come back into the eleven, with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes taking up the other two positions.

Despite his winning goal against Everton last weekend, Cristiano Ronaldo may have to be satisfied with a place on the bench for Sunday, with Marcus Rashford leading the line. Antony and Jadon Sancho are likely to start either side of the England international.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Face Newcastle:

De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Fernandes, Eriksen, Antony, Rashford, Sancho
