Southampton are expected to demand around £40m for Manchester United target Kyle Walker-Peters, according to reports in the English media.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are also said to be interested in the England international, and the Saints are prepared to hold out for a sizeable fee to sell the defender this summer.
Needless to say that supporters on Twitter are not particularly impressed with Walker-Peters’ price tag, with many hoping that United pursue cheaper alternatives instead:
English tax is insane

Personally would rather get Dumfries even if it means spending more

Just bring in Jonathan Claus. A very cheap player. If he flops, no one complains, if he shines, we’re happy 🤣

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is believed to be after a right-back, but Walker-Peters is only one of the names being considered.
In recent days, Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi have been mentioned as possible options, while Lens’ Jonathan Clauss has been suggested as a more economical alternative.
Out of those three, only Hakimi would probably cost more than Walker-Peters, so you would have to think that United will now cool their interest in the Saints defender.
