Christian Falk Reveals United And Chelsea Interest As Agents Of Bundesliga Defensive Colossus Press For PL Move

The agents of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah are trying to get the player a move to the Premier League this summer, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

The German journalist claims both Manchester United and Chelsea have considered the 26-year-old as a target in the past, and they could have a chance of securing his services at the end of the season:

“There were rumours with Chelsea who have a dossier on him – plus talks with Manchester United but nothing came of those – and there were talks with old agents. So, you see he is an interesting option for the Premier League and the new management will try and get him to a Premier League club.”

Manager Erik ten Hag is said to be keen on recruiting a new centre-half, with speculation that captain Harry Maguire could be set to leave Old Trafford.

Whether Tah will come under consideration, we shall have to wait and see. The German has been capped 16 times by Germany and he is known for his strength and aerial ability, which will hold him in good stead if he does makes the switch to England.

A lot will depend on what type of defender ten Hag is looking for. As we saw with Lisandro Martinez last summer, he doesn’t always look at the most conventional options and he needs defenders who are good with the ball at their feet.

Tah is in the bottom 25% for centre-backs across Europe’s top five leagues for progressive passes so he may not be top of United’ shortlist of targets.
