Chelsea Among Three Teams Plotting Raid On United For 33 Year Old

Chelsea, Everton and Leeds are all interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero, according to reports in the English media.

The Argentinian international has been David De Gea‘s understudy for five years since moving from Sampdoria but, with Dean Henderson returning from his loan spell at Sheffield United, the 33-year-old may not get much game time next season.

Romero has done very little wrong in a United shirt when called upon, and he played 17 games in cup competitions last campaign. However, despite having played almost every match in the Europa League, he was overlooked for the semi-final defeat to Sevilla, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opting for De Gea instead.

The decision did not go down well with Romero who was reportedly not best pleased with being omitted from the starting line up on Sunday. With three teams said to be keen on making him their number one, he could well be tempted by a move away from Old Trafford this summer.
