BBC Pundit Backs United To Sell Two Players In Order To Fund £260m Summer Recruitment Drive

Danny Murphy believes Manchester United should sell Paul Pogba and David De Gea in the summer in order to fund their summer transfer plans.

The BBC pundit thinks that while Pogba is looking for a way out of Old Trafford, De Gea could also be easily replaced by Dean Henderson, who is currently out on loan at Sheffield United:

“I think Paul Pogba wants to leave so selling him could work for all parties. David De Gea is a top goalkeeper but United have a ready-made replacement in Dean Henderson, who was lauded by Watford’s Ben Foster when I spoke to him last week.”

Murphy says the sale of the pair could then help sign three players: Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and West Ham’s Declan Rice.

The former Liverpool and Spurs player thinks the trio would cost around £260m, but that could well be a conservative figure. Dortmund are reportedly demanding at least £120m for Sancho while Rice’s asking price is purported to be £90m.

If those figures are indeed accurate, that would leave very little room for signing Kane, who would probably cost well in excess of £100m; that is on the assumption, of course, that he would be interested in moving to Old Trafford.
