Manchester United have joined the battle to sign Barcelona centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, according to reports in the Catalan media.
The La Liga champions are willing to let the Frenchman leave, as long as they have a buyback option on the teenager, and it is believed United may look to offer up to €20m (£17m) for the defender.
Fans on Twitter don’t think signing Todibo should be a priority for the club:

Can’t just go around buying young players, we need experience and leadership around them and we’d be lucky if 20% of our current squad have that.

Ah yes another non world class cb to join our growing list of not a single world class cb’s….

Ah here we go again

He’d decent but it’s the biggest bs ever. We’ve got Lindelof Maguire Tuanzebe Bailly Jones and Rojo. Any links with a CB are ridiculous

I don’t know we’re pretty stacked in the CB area but I mean Rojo & Jones are likely to leave so I guess someone has to replace them why not

Todibo only signed for Barca in January but has only managed to play five games since his arrival from Toulouse. His availability has also sparked the interest of AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen but it is believed United’s main rivals will come from other Premier League clubs.
Everton and Southampton are said to be keen and could have an advantage over United in the race to sign the France Under 20 international. Both clubs may be open to a buyback clause while United are reportedly not prepared to go along with Barcelona’s demands.
