“At The Moment…” Romano Provides Fresh Update On United’s Pursuit Of PL Star With 25M Release Clause

Manchester United have not stepped up their interest in Leeds winger Raphinha, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

It was reported earlier this week that the Red Devils were keen on signing the Brazilian international but Romano says that Liverpool and Barcelona are currently more likely destinations for the player:

“Let’s see, I’ll keep it open. At the moment they [Manchester United] are not negotiating for Raphinha but he will be available on the market. It’s important to see if Leeds will get relegated or not, because it depends on clauses. In case they get relegated, there will be some interesting clauses for Raphinha – it’s around £25 million. Liverpool are exploring this possibility. His agent is Deco, former midfielder of Barcelona. He has a fantastic relationship with Joan Laporta. He already discussed with Barcelona about Raphinha.”

Other reports have suggested that Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in Raphinha, although the Blues’ ownership situation means that any transfer business has now been put on hold.

West Ham reportedly made a formal bid for the 25-year-old in the January transfer window so they could make another move for him in the summer.

However, out of all the clubs involved, United are the ones who really need a player like Raphinha. They have a dearth of options on the right-wing and, if the Brazilian can be brought in for just £25m, it would be a tremendous piece of business.
