“Appreciated By Ten Hag…” United Tipped To Make Move For 34M Rated Serie A Fullback

Inter Milan fullback Denzel Dumfries is a player who is “appreciated” by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Dutch international has been linked with both the Red Devils and Chelsea this summer but, even though ten Hag is interested in recruiting the defender, Romano suggests that a deal may only happen if United can offload a player first:

“Manchester United will think of a right back only if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves. The club are taking the time in pre-season to assess him and other players. My understanding is that Diogo Dalot is in the plans of Erik ten Hag, with the Portuguese youngster appreciated by the manager.”

“Despite some of the transfer rumours, Jonathan Clauss has never been a Manchester United target, he will soon sign with Olympique Marseille; Denzel Dumfries is appreciated by Ten Hag but there are still no negotiations with Inter Milan.”

At the moment, it seems unlikely that Wan-Bissaka will be leaving Old Trafford. Interest in the £50m signing has been minimal, with his former team, Crystal Palace, the only club to have been linked with the right-back in recent months.

With Inter said to be holding out for around €40m (£34m) to sell Dumfries, a move for the 26-year-old doesn’t look to be on the cards at this stage. With just under six weeks remaining in the transfer window, though, the situation could still change.
