Fred’s goal against West Ham in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening was his fourth for Manchester United in all competitions this year.
It has since emerged that it is also the exact amount that Chelsea have managed during the same period.
Unsurprisingly that amazing statistic has gone down very well with United fans on Twitter, who have been making fun of the Blues’ poor form:
This is an unbelievable stat

Money really doesn’t buy you success it appears. Despite having spent £600m on new signings since last summer, Chelsea have really struggled under Graham Potter.
While United have been by no means low spenders, having shelled out £220m in Erik ten Hag‘s first transfer window, they were disciplined in January and it’s fair to say that nearly all the new additions have improved the first team.
Even so, the fact that Fred, who is not a prolific scorer, has matched Chelsea’s goal total so far in 2023 is simply ridiculous.
