Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio is being pursued by Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window, according to O Jogo.
The Portuguese newspaper claims that the centre-back’s agent, Miguel Pinho, has been “approached” by representatives from both the Red Devils and Newcastle in “recent days.”
Inacio has a release clause worth €45m (£40m), and Sporting’s president Frederico Varandas has already told potential suitors that the player won’t be made available for below that figure.
In fact, the Portuguese international could end up costing even more if Sporting get their way. They intend to offer the 21-year-old a new contract, which would also include a higher buyout fee.
It means that United may have to move fast if they want to snap up Inacio for the lower price. Whether that will happen, though, it is doubtful, considering the club need to sell the likes of Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly first to free up space in their squad.
