Manchester United are weighing up a potential move for FC Utrecht midfielder Taylor Booth, according to ESPN.
The 22-year-old has been added to a three-man shortlist, along with Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, as they pursue possible alternatives to Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
Booth was first linked with United back in May, and it appears that he is someone that manager Erik ten Hag would like to sign. However, fans on Twitter are split on whether he would be a good addition to the squad:
Taylor booth is a “baller” and he will be cheap.

Booth would be available pretty cheaply
It has been reported that the American international may cost only €10m (£8.5m), which would certainly make him a lot cheaper than the other names that United are considering.
Caicedo’s asking price is reportedly in excess of £80m, while Ajax are expected to hold out for around £40m to sell Kudus.
United have a limited transfer budget
The fact that a move for Booth is being considered does seem to be based on the Manchester club’s limited financial resources.
It is believed that the Red Devils also want to sign a new number nine, as well as a goalkeeper so, if they can reduce the cost of recruiting a midfielder, it will allow them to invest more heavily in other areas.
In addition to the three names mentioned by ESPN, reliable sources have also claimed that United are holding talks about signing Juventus’s Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer. We shall have to wait and see who ends up being the number one target.
