The agent of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is in England to finalise his move to Manchester United, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian publication reports that an agreement between Lazio and the Red Devils is very close, with both teams having effectively given the go-ahead for the 24-year-old’s transfer.

Despite Gazzetta‘s insistence that the deal is looking almost certain to go through, they also provide an important caveat. United will only sign Milinkovic-Savic if Paul Pogba’s move to Real Madrid is agreed.

At the moment, the Frenchman’s departure is looking far from certain with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having insisted that the midfielder is an important part of his first-team plans.

The move for Milinkovic-Savic is likely to be a contingency plan if Real do decide to match United’s valuation for Pogba.

However, with two weeks to go to the transfer deadline, things will have to move fast for either deal to be finalised.
