The Argentine international made a move to Italy from Real Madrid back in 2013, after he was said to be ‘surplus to requirements’, even though he had one of the best goal scoring records going. Higuain has managed to score 15 goals this season for Napoli in the 31 appearances he’s made. A record which in hindsight isn’t particularly spectacular, because it is common knowledge that Higuain is capable of much more.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea apparently keen on his signature. Manchester United are also willing to sign a striker this season, with Falcao’s loan expiring, and Van Persie still having big question marks over his future.
It is also worth mentioning that Napoli manager, Rafa Benitez, could be heading to Spain for the Real Madrid job. Should this prevail, it may open the door more so to Higuain’s exit. However, it is also apparent that Napoli are hoping to keep Higuain, and will do everything in their power to convince him to stay in Italy.
Manchester United would do well to have a player such as Higuain in their ranks, especially with the fierce competition with Chelsea and Arsenal. However, at £42 million, United could be put off.
