United And Chelsea Both ‘Still Very Interested’ In Dutch Midfield Maestro After Holding Talks With Agent

Manchester United and Chelsea have both told Frenkie de Jong’s representatives that they are “still very interested” in the Barcelona player, according to Sport.

Despite the Dutchman having expressed his desire to remain at the Catalan club in a recent interview, it appears that he is still being courted by Premier League clubs.

United agreed a €75m (£63m) fee with Barca for de Jong last summer but the player made it clear that he wasn’t looking to leave the Camp Nou under any circumstances.

Since then, Erik ten Hag’s side have signed Casemiro from Real Madrid but there is still a feeling that the Red Devils could do with a player who can dictate the tempo in the middle of the park.

Sport, however, say that de Jong has “made it clear” he won’t be leaving Barcelona and unless an “astronomical and irresistible offer arrives” there is now very little chance that he’ll be moving clubs.
