Sky Reporter Reveals Talks “Have Taken Place” As United Step Up Plans To Sign 30M Rated Defender

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has confirmed that talks “have taken place” between Manchester United and Hoffenheim about David Raum.

The journalist has previously claimed that the Red Devils are interested in the defender, and he now believes that they have stepped up their attempts to sign him:

As Plettenberg mentions, Hoffenheim are holding out for a fee between €30m (£26m) and €35m (£30m) which isn’t a bad price, considering he has been starting matches for Germany.

There are believed to be rivals (in addition to Borussia Dortmund) for the player’s signature. Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle and West Ham have all been mentioned as potential suitors in recent weeks.

You do have to wonder, though, whether a new left-back is a priority, considering the need to strengthen in midfield and up front, so we shall see if United do press ahead with a bid for Raum in the coming days.
