Romano Reveals Why United Have Withdrawn From Free Transfer Swoop For 341 Goal Striker

Manchester United are now looking at other targets after being put off by Edinson Cavani’s huge wage demands according to the Guardian‘s Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist claims the Red Devils are looking at bringing in a new striker before deadline day but, despite being offered the Uruguayan international, they are not willing to give him a lucrative contract:

“Cavani has been offered to Manchester United but he wants a long-term deal and a huge wage. That’s why Manchester United are considering other options.”

Cavani remains a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season. The 33-year-old has scored 341 goals during his professional career but such a record hasn’t convinced United to pay up.

Real Madrid had also offered Luka Jovic to the Red Devils on loan earlier in the summer, but it is now thought that the Serbian international will be staying at the Bernabeu as manager Zinedine Zidane needs extra reinforcements due to the impending sale of Borja Mayoral.

At the moment, it is unclear who else United are eyeing as possible alternatives up front but, with just a few days to go before the transfer deadline, they don’t have long to make their move.
