Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo has responded to reports that Manchester United are keeping tabs on him. There were claims last week that suggested the Wales international is being lined up as a potential backup option for Jadon Sancho. When pressed on those stories, the 19-year-old gave very little away:
“Obviously there are people talking, asking me and stuff but I am not really thinking about it. I am concentrating on Schalke. I still have to achieve my goals for Schalke.”
“I am just concentrating on that and we just see how things go, but for now I am just focused on Schalke. Hopefully, I can get into the team and help them climb up the table.”
Supporters on Twitter don’t think that United should be pursuing the teenager.
He should stay there

Matondo only moved to Schalke from Manchester City in January last year with the German club having shelled out £11m on the player. However, he is yet to nail down a first-team place.
Last campaign, the Welshman made just eight appearances, making one start, while this season he has been limited to 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing no assists.
Matondo is a talented young player but he is quite far behind Sancho in his development. If he were to move to Old Trafford, he would very much be one for the future.
