Manchester United are “pushing” hard to sign Ajax winger Antony, according to journalist Pedro Almeida.
The Portuguese reporter believes that the Brazilian international has already “informed” his club that he wants to join his former manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford and that a deal is close to being done:
Manchester United is seriously pushing Ajax to sign #Antony, the player has already informed Dutch club that he wants join English club and at the moment the transfer is 90% complete. 🔴🇧🇷 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/8GAiSOTKVf

It should be pointed out that Almeida isn’t the most reliable of sources so it’s probably wise to take this information with a large pinch of salt. Even so, a number of other journalists have confirmed that United are genuinely interested in Antony. Other teams, such as Chelsea and Liverpool, have scouted the 22-year-old, but the Red Devils appear to be favourites for his signature.
The winger is thought to be on the list of targets that ten Hag is considering as he looks to strengthen his options in attack. However, at the moment, the main focus continues to be on recruiting at least one midfielder, and there is talk that the club will also prioritise signing a centre-half and a right-back.
