Zlatan Set For United Stay

Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic may well be 35 years old, but he has absolutely no plans to slow down his career. The Swede compared himself to red wine in an interview last week, saying he gets better with age – and who can disagree with him? In 2016, only Lionel Messi has scored more goals at club level than Zlatan who has a massively impressive 49.

Ibra signed for United from PSG last summer, and has hit the Premier League with a bang scoring 16 goals in his first 25 games under Mourinho. Despite his tender age and having only 7 months left to run on his contract, Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Railoa has confirmed that his player will continue to work with Manchester United beyond next season – meaning the striker will soon sign a new deal at Old Trafford.

The news will come as a big boost to United, as the 35-year-old has been linked with several big money offers from abroad, including China where he has supposedly been offered a £120m deal to join an unnamed club.

“There is a big chance that there will be a second year,” Raiola told Sky Sports News HQ presenter Jim White on talkSPORT.

“We had already included that in the contract so it is not new for us and Manchester United. Both parties are very happy with that. It is more a question of time or when rather than if.”

When pushed on claims about interest from China, Raiola added: “That was also last year and he chose not to take it to come to England and that showed his spirit.”

“The boy is not done yet. He still has it in him. He still has the fire that he wants to win, that he wants to perform, and if it was only money he was after, he would not be at Manchester United.”

It is great news for everyone involved within United that Zlatan will renew his contract with the club. Not only does the striker score goals for fun, he is hugely influential with the young players and is an asset to the club on a whole.
