“You’d Fancy Them” Paul Scholes Names The Winner If United Face Arsenal In The Europa League Final

Manchester United would be the heavy favourites if they play against Arsenal in the Europa League final next month, according to Paul Scholes.

Both teams still have semi-finals to negotiate, with the Red Devils facing Roma, but when asked about a potential all-English clash, the BT Sport pundit said he would favour his former club to come out on top:

“You’d fancy them [United] to win that. Any team left in this competition, they wouldn’t worry about it. The one thing Arsenal do have is the experience of winning a big game, they beat City in an FA Cup final (sic) with Arteta. They’ve not been great this year, but that would worry you slightly. I still think United will win it, though.”

One-off cup finals are very hard to predict and Scholes is right to point to the fact that Arsenal have very recent experience of upsetting the odds when they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup last season.

In terms of the quality of players, though, you would have to make United the favourites, but fans would be wise not to get too far ahead of themselves.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were knocked out of the tournament at the semi-final stages by Sevilla last season, and they will be hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself when they take on Roma.
