Manchester United will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the WSL this weekend, giving the Red Devils an excellent chance to gain ground on league leaders Chelsea.
Currently, United are second in the league table, just two points behind the Blues. A win would see them leapfrog Chelsea, but the West London club could retake the top spot if they win their game in hand.
United will be expected to win their game against Spurs. Tottenham currently sit ninth in the WSL table, having lost all of their last six league games.
United, meanwhile, are currently one of the WSL’s most in form teams. They’ve won three of their last five games, including a 6-0 rout over Liverpool, and have only lost once in the league this season.
The Red Devils did, however, fail to beat Everton in their previous WSL game. Despite dominating the play, the Toffees stood firm and forced United into a goalless stalemate.
Elsewhere in the WSL, Arsenal will play Manchester City. Like United, Arsenal also dropped points in their last game as they drew 0-0 with West Ham. As such, the Gunners will be looking to get back to winning ways – but against a dangerous Manchester City outfit, it won’t be easy.
Additionally, in the third and final WSL game of the weekend, Aston Villa will play strugglers Brighton. While Villa have more quality in their ranks, Brighton need the win more than they do – three points against the Villans would pay dividends towards their fight to stay in the league.
