‘Would Love To Believe It’ ‘It Won’t Happen In January’ Fans Sceptical As United Scout Lyon Ace 3 Times In A Month Ahead Of Reported Bid

Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in his last three games, according to the Daily Mail. The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their forward line and are considering a move for the 23-year-old in the January transfer window.

The former Celtic star is currently the top scorer in Ligue One with six goals, and United had representatives in attendance when Lyon faced Brest on Wednesday night. He opened the scoring in the 2-2 draw. They also watched him in the 1-0 defeat to PSG a few days earlier as well as in the 1-1 stalemate against Zenit St Petersburg last week.

Fans on Twitter have seen United linked with Dembele many times before and are sceptical about whether a formal bid will be made:

The injuries to Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in recent weeks have shown the lack of depth that United have up front. With Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez having departed, they are having to rely on Mason Greenwood. It is, therefore, likely that they’ll go into the market when the window reopens.
