Manchester United were working on a deal to sign Bournemouth striker Joshua King on deadline day, but the move fell through with reports suggesting that the Red Devils were looking for a loan move instead of a permanent transfer.
The Cherries were believed to be seeking around £30m for the Norwegian international, and supporters on Twitter think the Red Devils were wise to opt against such a costly purchase:
30 million would have been a terrible deal.
What's that… 10mill per goal he's scored this season!?

Loan was the right choice and than in summer get in a proper striker like Timo Werner or Raul Jimenez

Well…..he isn't good enough to play for United

If Bournemouth accepted a loan he would have been at Utd. Was never going to be a long term option for us.

Good decision from United for once to not pay the 30mill. Buying King would have clearly affected our summer plans for a forward. Ighalo on a short term deal won’t..

He should have paid that fee to join United lol#MUFC

£30m for a injured player who’d probably only be on the bench.

30mil for king I think not

Lol around £10m I can understand, £30m is madness

Considering King has been injured over the past month, and the fact he has scored just three goals in 17 appearances this season, it does suggest United were probably correct to step back from trying to snap up the 28-year-old.
While Odion Ighalo is certainly not a lot of people’s preferred choice to come in and offer manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer another option up front, the Nigerian international has only been signed on loan and United are under no obligation to keep him at the end of the season.
