Wonderkid defender refuses to rule out United move

Ajax wonderkid Matthijs De Ligt admits he is honoured to have his name linked with some of the finest clubs in world football, as speculation about his future continues.

De Ligt has been hailed as one of the best up and coming defenders in the game, having broken into the Ajax first team at just 18-years-old.

A whole host of clubs are interested in the Dutchman’s signature, with Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United among the big favourites to land the centre-back.

Speaking about the recent speculation over his future, De Ligt admitted it was an ‘honour’ to be linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world, but refused to reveal which clubs he would join.

“I’m not in touch with anyone yet,” de Ligt told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

“I’m here with my national team, focused on this.

“Of course, it’s a real honour to be associated with some big clubs but it does not change for me, I just have to continue to play well.

“I hope I can grow as much as possible and that’s why it’s important to play every week at high levels.

“Who would I choose between Juve, Barcelona and United? It’s difficult, they’re all great teams.

“We must think about it, understand what is the best step to do. At the moment I do not know, I’m on vacation and I can think about it.”
