Willian fuels Manchester United rumours with latest comments on life at Chelsea

Chelsea forward Willian has revealed the difficulties he faced at Stamford Bridge last season, fuelling rumours that he will leave the club this summer.

Reports suggest the Brazilian could be on his way to Manchester United in the coming months, with Jose Mourinho keen on a re-union with his former player.

United are also understood to be willing to offer out Anthony Martial as part of any deal – a move which would bring to an end frustrating sagas at their respective clubs for both players.

Willian found himself a bit part player at Chelsea last term, starting just over half of the Blues Premier League games and making only three starts in the League Cup too.

He was also left out of the starting XI for Chelsea’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester United back in May.

Willian’s reaction to his omission caused controversy amongst the club’s fans, the Brazil international appearing to block out manager Antonio Conte from a photo of the team lifting the trophy on his Instagram.

And now the forward, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, has spoken publicly of his frustration at The Bridge last year.

“I was happy with my performances throughout the season,” he told reporters. “I played very well. I always try to do my best. I always try to work hard. Sometimes to stay on the bench is difficult.

“I respect the decision of the manager who thinks that and I have nothing more to say about my club. I now want to focus here on the national team, on the World Cup. I am ready for it.”
