Who Could Replace David De Gea?

David De Gea has yet to extend his deal with Manchester United. Even though all seems calm and normal at Old Trafford, LVG does not seem very pleased with how things are going negotiation wise. According to the Daily Express, the Spanish keeper refused an offer of about £8million per season which is mind-blowing for a young goalkeeper. If rumors are true and he refused almost twice of what Courtois is now getting at Chelsea, it could be a clear sign De Gea is looking to leave. If that is the case, Van Gaal has some serious thinking to do as keepers of his quality are hard to find right now.

So what could be the options for the Dutchman if De Gea decides to leave? Valdes (33) could be a good replacement as long as he has recovered from his injury. Unfortunately there is no way of telling. There is also a matter of practice for the Spaniard who after almost a year on the recovery program and no time spent on the pitch may find it hard to restart his career.

The most recent suggestion for Man. United’s goal is Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris (28). The Frenchman who may be looking to leave White Hart Lane has shown a great set of skills during his time spent in the Premier League and may be happy to leave Spurs for the allure of Champions League football. He does lack consistency at times and that could be a deal-breaker.

Even though the last two names that come to mind might be a bit unlikely they could still represent great additions to the team if De Gea does leave. Petr Cech (32) and Iker Casillas are very likely to leave the clubs where they built their careers and look for a new challenge. The Czech international may well be interested in staying in the Premier League and Casillas (33) surely would only be interested in moving to a big club so both could end up at Old Trafford.

Hopefully for United De Gea signs a new deal and continues to build a legacy at Old Trafford.
