Jose Mourinho has made it very clear he has certain needs for his squad as the final days of the transfer window wind down.

The window will slam shut at 5pm on Thursday August 9, just one day before Man United face Leicester City in the first match of the 2018/19 season.

With 25 year old Harry Maguire heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford it makes the clash between the two Premier League sides even more spicy especially as the Foxes are reportedly asking for a fee in excess of the world record £75million fee Liverpool paid for Southampton in January.

Maguire is listed at 13/8 with Sky Bet to move from Leicester to United.

Jose Mourinho clearly wants to add an experienced quality central defender as Victor Lindelof does not seem ready, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones look to be declining if anything while Marcos Rojo would likely be first choice for the Portuguese manager if only the Argentinian international could stay fit for a season.

United have been heavily linked with a bid for German World Cup winner 29 year old Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich in a £45million deal and the player does have the winning credentials and experience Jose might be looking for.

There have been numerous reports connecting the Red-Devils to Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld who is also 29 years old and has one year left on his contract.

Paying a massive fee for a player they could get for free next summer might be enough to scupper this deal although the Belgian international is undoubtedly a quality player but has not won many trophies.

Yerry Mina, Barcelona’s Colombian international central defender who made a big splash with the thumping header at the World Cup which sent England and Colombia’s match to extra time is anther possible option for United.

Mina at 23 years old does offer more value for money and a longer term option but he lacks experience and he is reportedly close to moving to Everton for €32million as we have reported regarding a possible transfer for Mina along with the likes of the Liverpool Echo.

United seemingly need to do something after letting the dependable Daley Blind return to Ajax and in light of the slow development of Lindelof so let us know your preference by voting in the poll above.
