‘Where’s He Going To Play On The Bench?’ ‘Just Buy A CDM’ Fans Perplexed By United’s Interest In 60M Rated Playmaker

Manchester United are among the teams interested in signing RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, according to reports in the German media.

The Hungarian international is believed to be valued at around the €60m (£51m) to €70m (£60m) mark by his club and he has been in good form this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 16 appearances.

Supporters on Twitter can’t understand why United are targeting another playmaker when there are so many other issues both on and off the pitch at the Manchester club:

Szoboszlai is undoubtedly a talented player. He was tracked by Arsenal before he moved to Leipzig, and he has the ability to play either as a number ten or on the wing.

However, most of United’s problems this campaign have stemmed from poor defensive performances and signing Szoboszlai above a holding midfielder, a right-back or a centre-half would not be a sensible use of transfer funds. We shall see who the Red Devils prioritise in January.
