‘What Are We Waiting For?’ ‘Come On Ed’ Fans React To Report That United Are One Of Four Clubs To Have Agreed Deal For £72m Rated Winger

Manchester United are one of four clubs who have agreed a deal in principle with Lille for winger Nicolas Pepe, according to reports in France.

Napoli and Inter Milan are also said to be interested, while there is also a fourth unnamed team in the mix.

Most fans on Twitter are calling on the United board to get the deal over the line:

However, a few are questioning the reliability of the reports:

The inclusion of Inter in the reports does make it rather circumspect. Lille reportedly value Pepe at around €80m (£72m) and considering the Italian club are struggling to find funds for Romelu Lukaku, how are they able to afford the Ivorian instead?

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton have also been linked with the winger in recent months, but Napoli appear to be the favourites for the player at the moment. The Serie A side’s manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted meeting with the 24-year-old’s agents:

“We met with Pepe’s agents. They were at our hotel. It is normal that we would meet to discuss eventual negotiations. It is pointless to hide it with his agents here: we are interested in Pepe.”
