Manchester United are weighing up a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to the Evening Standard.
The Portuguese press have previously linked the 24-year-old with a switch to Old Trafford, and it appears there is concrete interest in the playmaker.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has advised the United board that the squad requires strengthening in midfield, and Fernandes has been identified as a possible option to bring in more goals and creativity.
Fans on Twitter are not too sure if Fernandes is the right answer:
What a signing Bruno Fernandes would be for us. Man’s a elite baller.

Would not be apposed to a signing like this.
Cheap and a replacement for Mata without having to worry about him complaining for game time.

I would like him but we desperately need a controller in midfield. Anyone with half a brain can see that. We’ll just have the same problems next season if we dont get one.

Fernandes has spent some time playing in Italy but his rise to prominence has coincided with his return to Portugal two years ago.
This season, he has racked up 24 goals and contributed 14 assists; impressive figures but question marks will remain considering the league he is playing in.
The Primeira Liga is not the strongest, and his Europa League numbers are more modest in comparison, having scored three in eight appearances this campaign.
Whether Fernandes will turn out to be United’s main midfield target this summer, we shall have to wait and see.
