Atletico Madrid have set an asking price of €40m (£34m) for right-back Kieran Trippier, according to the Guardian‘s Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist claims that Manchester United are keen on snapping up the England international this summer, but supporters on Twitter believe the Red Devils should bow out of the race if Atletico stick to their valuation:
We’d be mad to pay €40m for Trippier https://t.co/IQYpqFR7LX

40M for Trippier!!? Naah we have Wan-Bissaka why would United even consider that when they could spend that cash for Varane or Kounde

United are looking to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka but they are hardly likely to push the boat out for Trippier, considering they have plenty of other transfer targets where the money could be put to better use.
The fullback is the wrong side of 30 now, and investing substantial sums on players nearing the end of their careers is no longer something United are keen on doing.
Trippier has also been tipped to be used in a swap deal with Arsenal, which would involve Hector Bellerin moving in the other direction, but Atletico’s price tag means he is likely to stay in Spain.
