RB Leipzig chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff says the Bundesliga club are determined to keep Konrad Laimer this summer, despite the Austrian being in high demand.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have all been credited with an interest in Laimer, with Bayern Munich also reportedly lining up a €20m (£17m) bid for the midfielder. However, Mintzlaff has expressed Leipzig’s determination to retain the player’s services:

“Of course, we want to keep him. He is one of the top six [players] in the Bundesliga and played a fantastic second half of the season. He fits in perfectly with our club and our DNA and his skills are almost unique in Germany.”

Mintzlaff’s comments are likely designed to ensure they get the best price for Laimer, considering that the 24-year-old is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract at the Red Bull Arena.

It is believed that it was Ralf Rangnick who recommended Laimer to United so it remains to be seen whether new manager Erik ten Hag will take his advice on board and make a move for the Austrian international over the coming weeks. The Dutchman may, though, have his own targets in mind.
