Manchester United may have to make a move for Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window if they “really want” the Dutchman, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on The United Stand Youtube channel, the journalist said that the Red Devils may not have much time to secure the services of the 23-year-old, who has been in scintillating form this season.
Gakpo has already racked up 13 goals and 11 assists in only 18 appearances for PSV and the majority of supporters on Twitter feel that United should table an offer for him in the New Year:
We need him

January or else he’s 100M plus next summer

Given the apparent lack of goals in this team they should be trying to get Gakpo signed
— Daren Houghton (@DarenHoughton) October 17, 2022
He has the character, mentality and physique and technique we need from a forward! Get him in

It should be noted that Gakpo himself revealed United were keen on signing him back in August, so there is legitimate interest in the player.
The Netherlands international’s performances this campaign have, though, stepped up to another level, and it will likely attract competition for his signature. The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have been mentioned as potential suitors previously so United may need to move fast to snap him up.
