Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes has rejected the club’s offer of a new contract, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 19-year-old’s representatives are believed to be unhappy with the terms offered, and it means the Red Devils are at risk of losing the teenager at the end of the season.
Some fans on Twitter are backing United’s stance on Gomes:
We don’t need him, he needs us. He can go

Academy graduates can’t be dictating to the club when they play. I don’t know any top team that plays the youth as much as we have been doing. His mistake and I think players who won’t knuckle down and fight for their place can go elsewhere.

Not good enough by some distance. Also may not be suited for the premier league, move to la liga or Italy probably more suitable.

Barcelona and a number of other top European clubs are said to be keeping tabs on Gomes’s situation, and the prospects of him staying at Old Trafford beyond the summer look pretty slim at the moment.
Whether United would live to regret letting the England Under 20 international go, we shall have to wait and see. As some fans have suggested, it could lead to a situation similar to Paul Pogba in a few years time, or equally, he could fail to make the grade.
