Manchester United captain Harry Maguire did not train last night ahead of today’s Europa League final.
The centre-back was named in the 26-man squad for the trip to Poland, with it still being hoped that he could play some part against Villarreal, but it seems clear that he was never going to recover in time from an ankle injury.
Supporters on Twitter are now far more pessimistic about United’s chance of winning the final, following the disheartening news on Maguire:

It will be interesting to see which centre-back partnership manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goes with now. Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof did not impress in the 4-2 defeat to Liverpool, and Axel Tuanzebe could well have a chance of starting.
The 23-year-old is comfortable playing in the left-sided centre-half role and he is also stronger in the air. Whether Solskjaer will hand him a start, we shall have to wait and see.
