Incredibly the Hornets have suffered defeats in the last nine league meetings between themselves and United which includes the last six in the Premier League. The last three encounters at Vicarage Road have left the sides separated by only a single goal in United’s wins so this does give Watford some hope heading into Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off.

Watford striker, Troy Deeney will be looking to make amends for his match last season where he scored from the penalty spot and had the misfortune of scoring a 90th minute own goal in the corresponding fixture last season, as United won 2-1.

United have a pretty stellar record vs Watford, their last league loss to the Hornets came back in September 1986 only two months before Sir Alex Ferguson got the manager’s job at Old Trafford replacing Ron Atkinson.

Watford have seen five different players from the 22 squad selected players score for them in the opening four matches of 2016-17. It was 17 games last term (December 20th 2015) before they were able to achieve this.

One good omen for United is that they have won all four of their previous Premier League games following a home Manchester derby defeat so Watford could be in for a tough match on the other hand and a bad omen for United is that the Hornets have never lost three consecutive home Premier League games before.

So we predict a return to winning ways for the Red Devils in the form of a 3-1 win.
