Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie says that teenager Mason Greenwood has a big future ahead of him at Old Trafford.

Some have compared the 18-year-old to the Dutchman due to the similarities in their game, and van Persie joked that the youngster is looking to ape his style:

If Greenwood turns into a finisher with the same quality and consistency as van Persie then he would have done very well indeed.

The forward’s seven goals in all competitions this campaign shows a player who is already making his mark on first-team football. His strike against Everton at the weekend was expertly taken and fans are certainly right to get excited by his potential.

With Greenwood in such great form in front of goal, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be tempted to start him more often in league games. He is, though, likely to be in the starting line up when the Red Devils face Colchester in the Carabao Cup this evening.
