WATCH: “I probably should have ripped his head off” says Roy Keane about former Man United coach

Roy Keane certainly made his mark at Old Trafford winning numerous trophies including 7 Premier League titles and a Champions League.

As well Keane moved north of the border to Celtic where he won a Scottish Premier League title and a Scottish League Cup during his spell as a Hoop.

Over his spell at United Keane worked with a number of top coaches when Sir Alex Ferguson was the Manchester United manager.

One of the men Roy Keane worked with across 2 different spells was current Islamic Republic of Iran manager, Portuguese Carlos Queiroz.

Keane, who had fierce rivalries with opposing players like Patrick Vieira at Arsenal and has often ripped into Liverpool during his numerous memorable soundbites, has revealed that he felt he was disrespected by the well-travelled Portuguese manager in the latter stages of his Old Trafford career and did not remember it very fondly.

Speaking on ITV a few days ago before the Iran vs Spain Group B World Cup match, Keane had this to say about his feelings towards Queiroz,

“For some reason towards the end of my time I found him really disrespectful towards me,”

“He questioned my loyalty and I told him where to go but one of my big regrets really was that I probably should have ripped his head off.

“But excellent coach and he’s doing an excellent job it has to be said.”

Despite Keane’s comments, Carlos Queiroz however, still has his Iranian side in with a chance of making it through to the knockout stages of the World Cup after they beat Morocco 1-0 and Portugal and Spain drew 3-3 so they still sit only a point behind the two Iberian rivals.

But Iran will need to win their 3rd ever World Cup game and beat Portugal with an in-form Cristiano Ronaldo if they are to make it through – a big ask for any team.

Iran looked a better side against Spain than they did in their first match against Morocco, showing some attacking threat and as a result perhaps the Carlos Queiroz led Iranians can pull off what would be the surprise of the tournament so far by beating the current European Championship holders Portugal and moving into the knockout round.
