‘Walk Away Man’ ‘They Should Just Give Up’ Fans React As United Plan To Make Another Bid For Defender

Manchester United are likely to make a “third bid” for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to The Times.

The Red Devils have already had two offers turned down for the 22-year-old; the latest of which was worth £45m, plus £5m add-ons.

It’s fair to say that most fans on X would prefer that the club move on to other targets rather than pay over the odds for Branthwaite:

How much do Everton want for Branthwaite?

It is believed that the Toffees are holding out for a fee between £70m and £75m. The Merseyside club have cited the fee that Manchester City paid for Josko Gvardiol (£77.6m) as one of the reasons why they are standing firm on their asking price.

With the two clubs currently £20m apart on their valuations, it remains to be seen whether a compromise can be found or whether Erik ten Hag’s side will ultimately decide to walk away.

United have made bids for two centre-backs and are in talks with another

In addition to Branthwaite, the Red Devils have had a £42m (plus add-ons) offer accepted by Lille for Leny Yoro. Rio Ferdinand has pleaded for the teenager to make the switch to Old Trafford but it does appear as if he is holding out for a move to Real Madrid.

The Times have also confirmed that a £43m deal for Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt is close to being finalised.
