Manchester United have had a good season all in all as they have secured the best finish in the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson left and we wish the great man a speedy recovery.

United have claimed their highest points total with 81 since Fergie left and by finishing second they have ended the season in their highest place as they try to win the title again.

United can add the FA Cup to their season which would see Jose Mourinho considering this season a success despite the Carabao Cup defeat to Championship side Bristol City and their exit from the Champions League knockout round at the hands of Sevilla.

The Reds player of the season could have gone to Romelu Lukaku for his solid first season at United after his big money move from Everton which saw him score 32 goals for club and country or it could have gone to Nemanja Matic for his ultra-consistent level of play in Jose Mourinho’s engine room after joining from Chelsea.

However, there really was only one player who stood head and shoulder above the entire league at his position and that is goalkeeper David De Gea.

The Spanish number won was awarded the golden glove for the very first time and his 18 clean sheets across the Premier League season was a career high this campaign in the Manchester United goal.

There is no question De Gea won United points over the course of the season with his array of “worldie” saves across the season.
