Manchester United are weighing up a move for centre-back Dan-Axel Zagadou, according to Media Foot Marseille.
The website claims that the Red Devils are “very interested in the player” who is currently available on a free transfer after being released by Borussia Dortmund last month.
Zagadou has been linked with a move to the Premier League previously, with Arsenal having been mentioned as potential suitors last year, but United’s main rivals are thought to be Paris Saint-Germain.
The Ligue One champions see the 23-year-old as a cheaper alternative to Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar, with a deal for the Slovakian having hit the buffers after the failure to agree a transfer fee.
Whether United would actually need Zagadou, it is up for debate. Manager Erik ten Hag has already brought in a left-footed centre-back at great expense, after sealing a deal for Lisandro Martinez. However, he may feel that another option is needed if he prefers to play Harry Maguire in the right-sided role.
