Van De Beek Makes Key Decision On His Next Club Amid United And Barcelona Interest

Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek has set his sights on moving to Barcelona this summer if a move can be worked out, according to reports in the Catalan media.

The 23-year-old is a key target for manager Ronald Koeman but Barca can’t currently afford the Dutch international’s €55m (£49m) asking price, making a move very unlikely at this stage.

Manchester United and Tottenham have also reportedly been in talks with Ajax about signing van de Beek but the player is believed to be waiting to see if Barcelona can free up funds in order to finance a move for him.

It is thought that the future of Lionel Messi may play a role. Were the Argentinian legend to leave the Camp Nou this summer, it would release a sizeable amount of resources.

However, were the forward to remain at Barca, it would likely lead to other clubs, such as United, moving to the front of the queue for van de Beek.
