With an unprecedented four fixtures in eight days, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have no choice but to rotate his players against Aston Villa this afternoon.
Dean Henderson is expected to return in goal, despite David De Gea’s excellent performance in Rome. The fact that Luke Shaw was substituted on Thursday may suggest the left-back will start today, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka playing on the opposite flank. In the centre of defence, Victor Lindelof is likely to return in place of Eric Bailly to partner Harry Maguire.
There could be a number of changes in midfield at Villa Park, and Donny van de Beek could take on Bruno Fernandes’s number 10 role, with Nemanja Matic coming in to play alongside Fred.
Up front, Edinson Cavani may be saved for the Leicester game, allowing Mason Greenwood to lead the line, with Paul Pogba moving further forward to play off the left, and Marcus Rashford starting on the right-hand side.
Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Play Aston Villa:
Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, van de Beek, Matic, Rashford, Greenwood, Pogba
