Van De Beek And Lindelof To Start, Pogba Not In The Squad: United’s Predicted XI To Face Southampton

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have been happy with the performance, for the most part, in the 4-1 over Istanbul Basaksehir during the week so there will likely be only a few changes made to the starting eleven for the match against Southampton.

David De Gea will keep his place in goal, with Alex Telles expected to retain his spot at left-back as Luke Shaw is still sidelined. Victor Lindelof has trained despite a troublesome back problem, so the Swedish international could play alongside Harry Maguire in the centre of defence.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka came through training on Friday so the 22-year-old should be fit enough to start at right-back after being substituted on Tuesday due to a knock to his ankle.

In midfield, neither Paul Pogba nor Scott McTominay are expected to be in the matchday squad due to injuries, so it should give Donny van de Beek another chance to start alongside Fred, with Bruno Fernandes in the no.10 role.

Edinson Cavani’s performance in midweek should be enough for the Uruguayan to start once more at St Mary’s, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial playing either side of him.
