United Youngster Signs New Deal

Manchester United have announced that Andreas Pereira has signed a new contract at the club.

The news will come as a pleasant surprise to all at United, as it was recently feared that the Brazilian would not extend his contract, and therefore leave the club.

Pereira’s contract was set to end at the completion of the season and it looked inveitable that the youngster would leave, as it was reported he was fed up of not being given the chance in the first team.

PSG and PSV were the clubs linked with the 19-year-old, which sparked worry among everyone at United, as a similar scenario to that of Paul Pogba’s looked likely to happen. Fans were desperate for the deal to be done, and now it seems the Brazilian has committed his future to United for the forseable future, as he has signed an extension which will keep him at the club until at least 2018.

Although Pereira has seen his chances limited for United, the player was recently selected for Brazil’s U-20 squad, which further shows the potential that the player has.

All in all, it’s great news for Manchester United. It confirms that Louis van Gaal is a firm believer in youth, and that he has great expectations for the Brazilian.

It may not be the contract extension United fans were hoping for, as the David De Gea situation continues to rumble on, but it is a step in the right direction.
