United ‘Working Hard’ On Deal For £89m Rated Star But Face Fierce Competition From Four Clubs

Manchester United have been “working hard” on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen forward Kai Havertz according to Sky Sports Germany.

Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their interest in the 20-year-old but the TV station say that the Blues have yet to formally register their interest in the player.

In contrast, United are said to have been laying the groundwork for a deal for the “past few months” although Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also said to have a good chance of signing Havertz.

The good news is, though, that despite the talk surrounding Chelsea’s interest, United are very much still an option for the German international.

Havertz’s valuation still stands at €100m (£89m) but Sky Germany also report that Leverkusen are aware that it is unlikely that they’ll get the full amount upfront. A bid of €80m (£71m) plus €20m (£18m) in bonuses could well be enough to get the deal done.
