United ‘Willing To Pay’ 17M To Sign American International But Deal Hinges On Chelsea Deal

Manchester United are “willing to pay” Sergino Dest’s asking price, but Barcelona are not prepared to let the fullback leave until they have signed his replacement, according to Sport.

The Catalan publication reports that Red Devils boss Erik ten Tag “admires” the American international, who he worked with during his time at Ajax.

Barca are likely to offload Dest for around €20m (£17m), but the La Liga club want to secure the signature of Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta before sanctioning the sale.

Azpilicueta has already agreed a two-year contract to move to Spain, but Chelsea also need to find a replacement, with the likes of Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters being looked at.

In terms of Dest, Sport claim that the right-back would be tempted by a switch to Old Trafford. Even though his preference would be to stay at the Camp Nou, he knows his game time is likely to be limited this season.
