United Weighing Up January Swoop For 20 Year Old Brazilian Defender

Manchester United are interested in Porto centre-back Eder Militao, according to reports in the UK.

The 20-year-old only moved to Portugal from Brazilian club Sao Paulo in August but has looked impressive during the first half of the season.

Militao’s form even led to him being given his first senior cap for Brazil, playing the full 90 minutes in the friendly against El Salvador back in September.

United are looking at a number of centre-back options for the January transfer window with manager Jose Mourinho keen to strengthen at the back.

The injury to Victor Lindelof will likely lead to the Manchester club stepping up their pursuit of a defender, with Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones also having been sidelined for long spells this season.

Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is reportedly Mourinho’s’ preferred target but the Portuguese boss is said to be looking at different targets if United fail to agree a fee for the Senegalese international.

Militao has played regularly at centre-back for Porto this campaign, but can also play at right-back or as a holding midfield player. Manchester City and Everton are also said to be monitoring the Brazilian.
