United Warned That Chelsea Could Hijack Move For 23 Goal French Ace If Ownership Situation Isn’t Resolved Soon

Manchester United may have to battle Chelsea for the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

Reports in the German media have repeatedly linked the Red Devils with a move for the France international, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season, but Falk believes the protracted takeover of the club could hamper Erik ten Hag’s efforts to sign the player, and that could hand Chelsea an opportunity to swoop in:

“He has time, then, to reach a decision and keep an eye on Manchester United’s ownership situation (which will affect how much they can spend). Chelsea are still in the race and he wants to wait and see if there will be talks with Mauricio Pochettino.”

Muani could reportedly cost as much as €100m (£87m), which would be close to breaking United’s transfer record. Whether he is worth that much, it is up for debate.

However, ten Hag has prioritised the signing of a new number nine and the Frankfurt star is deemed to have the right characteristics to play the role.

What other strikers could United sign instead of Muani?

The Red Devils have been linked with numerous forwards in recent months, but the three names that keep cropping up are Tottenhan’s Harry Kane, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic.

All three would probably cost just as much as Muani and, in Osimhen’s case, it is believed the Nigerian’s asking price is much higher at €150m (£130m).
