United Vying With Italian Giants To Sign French Flyer (Who Has £342M Buyout Clause) On Free Transfer

Manchester United and Juventus are the leading two contenders to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer, according to reports in the Catalan media.

The Frenchman’s current deal at the Camp Nou expires in the summer, and the Red Devils will be able to sign him on a pre-contract agreement in just a few months.

Dembele, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool in the past, is believed to be keen on staying at Barca, with the La Liga club’s president Joan Laporta thought to have personally contacted the player to convince him into signing an extension.

However, there is a concern that the 24-year-old’s agents are delaying negotiations, knowing full well that the France international will receive lucrative offers from other teams in the New Year.

Dembele was snapped up for €145m from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and has a €400m (£342m) buyout clause in his contract, but he could well leave for nothing next July.
